Easy Ways To Stop Smoking

Smoking is probably one of the ways that harms an individual’s health to such a great extent that it could cause death. While many people try to quitting smoking, there are many easy ways to achieve that. One of the easiest ways is to replace the cigarette with nicotine gum or patches. Every time there is an urge to smoke, this could be substituted for a cigarette. These are available over the counter, and they will help the smoker tremendously although, a little self-effort is needed from the smoker.

There is a method called nicotine fading, and this is related to using cigarettes of different nicotine levels. The smoker can buy brands, which have a different amounts of nicotine. This can be done over time, and until the smoker actually stops smoking. The person will have to keep buying cigarettes that have a lower amount of nicotine. Changing the amount of nicotine you consume can be done very slowly and spread out over a few days, so that it does not tempt the smoker to consume more cigarettes to compensate the nicotine content. Eventually getting to the stage of quitting altogether.

Then there is the relapse prevention method. With this method the smoker must keep a track of his smoking habits, when exactly he lights up and why. There could be several situations where he would want to smoke, and by realizing those situations, he could take measures to cope with them. It will involve keeping track of all the situations that trigger the smoking urge.

The other simple way is to set daily goals and reward yourself. Once you have achieved a goal of not smoking for a longer period of time, the smoker should reward themself. They can also count on someone who is with him, and who is a non-smoker to support their new habit of not smoking. They should make sure he has the necessary support morally and emotionally to successfully stop smoking.
